Description

Semmering, Austria

Kalte Rinne Viaduct, part of the train line over the Semmering mountain. Planned by Carl Ritter von Ghega, built 1848-1854. This viaduct and the rock in the background (Polleros Wall) were visible on the old austrian 20 Schilling bill (replaced by the Euro in 2002). The train line over Semmering is UNESCO World Cultural Heritage.
